In this team project in my second semester, a writing instrument for the sports / outdoor / trekking area had to be designed. The focus was set on the colouring of the project.
During Scuba Diving it is often need to write down some notes under water. Previously used writing boards for underwater have a limited size to make notes due to their analogous function. Our writing device consists of a pen and a tablet and is equipped with an e-ink display. It offers the advantage that you can draw/write as much as you want. It can be used for sketches, annotations or you can download some underwater maps on it. All data is stored and can be viewed and transferred to a computer.
NFC (Near Field Communication) transfers the data to the computer. The pen does not only offer massive benefits when it comes to creating notes and sketches during the dive, but also when planning the dive. Via the computer, maps and other relevant information about the diving area can be downloaded and called up under water. For quick use, the tablet is attached to a D-loop on the vest of the diver.
Our scuba diving tablet is therefore ideal for scientific divers who need to collect a lot of data and information. It is also very suitable for hobby divers, because the tablet is easy to use and also allows easy written communication with other divers under water.
